Where:            West Charlotte High School, 2219 Senior Dr, Charlotte 28216             

Format:            Swiss System (no one is eliminated). No last round byes.*

 8 Sections:            Open, Under 1500, Under 1200, Under 1000, Under 850, Under 650, Under 450, Under 300 (by May 2008 USCF Rating)  

Main Event open to scholastic (preK-12) players and collegiate players 22 and younger only!  See below for a special adult event! 

Entry Fee:      $20 pre-registration – on site $30.00 (8-9 am) 

Memberships: USCF membership required. Membership available at tournament or online at www.uschess.org   (Ages 16-19 $25.00, Ages 13-15  $19.00, Ages birth thru 12  $17.00).  Players without documented USCF membership must pay the dues to be allowed to play.  

Round Times and Time Control:

Open, U1500 (3 rounds, G/75): 9:30, 1, 3:45

U1200, U1000 (4 rounds; G/35 rounds 1-2; G/45 rounds 3-4): 9:30, 11, 1, 2:40;

U850, U650, U450, U300 (5 rounds; G/35): 9:30, 11, 1, 2:20, 3:30 

Prizes:

Open: 1st place $100, 2nd place $50

U 1500: 1st place $75, 2nd place $35

U1200: 1st place $60, 2nd place $30, 3rd place $20

U1000 :   1st place $50, 2nd place $25, 3rd place $20

U850, U650, U450, U300: Trophies to top 5, Medals to any tied for last trophy place. 

Registration:  May USCF supplement ratings used; unrated can enter any section. If you register after 9:00 AM you cannot play the first round and will receive a half-point bye.  Bring chess equipment & clocks. If you pre-register but cannot play, notify Tim before the first round for a refund.

 * Byes:  One 1/2pt. bye can be requested, but not for the last round.  Registering after 9 a.m. uses this bye for round one.  Extra rounds missed will be a zero point bye.  We must be notified in advance of byes or the player will be forfeited, withdrawn from the tournament, and not allowed to play in later rounds.  Byes will be posted for pre-registrations on the web (www.cmsca.org) and on the wall charts after each round; correction requests are the responsibility of the player.

1.   Parents and Friends Tournament:

2 sections: Unrated and  USCF-Rated; 3 round swiss; Game/30; EF = $5 (unrated), $10 (rated); Prizes 1st place 50% of entry fees for section; 2nd place 20%, 3rd place 10% ; Onsite registration only 9-10 am; rounds 11, 1, 2:20.  May be modified based on number of entries.

 

CMSCA Instructor Blitz Championship to be held from 11:45 -1 PM.  See who can emerge with the coveted Blitz Belt!
